On June 22, 2026, at approximately 7:56 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Russell M. Tanner following a motor vehicle crash.
Troopers were dispatched to Old State Road in the town of Binghamton for a motor vehicle crash where a vehicle left the roadway, struck a mailbox, continued along the shoulder, striking a second mailbox then struck a telephone pole. While in route, Troopers were advised that the Broome County 911 Center received additional calls that the vehicle left the scene.
Troopers located the vehicle, a 2012 GMC Sierra, with no tires on its passenger side, pulled off the roadway near the intersection of Old State Road and Brandywine Highway.
Troopers interviewed Tanner, who they observed to be displaying characteristics associated with impairment. Tanner submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which confirmed impairment. He was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton where his reportable B.A.C was .15%.
Tanner was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Dickinson Town Court on August 18, 2026.
