Lynne Aletha Maitland, 88, of Watertown(Reed & Benoit Funeral Home)
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Lynne Aletha Maitland passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center. She was 88 years old.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial afterward at Glenwood Cemetery.
Lynne was born on March 21, 1938, in Watertown, New York, the daughter of the late Howard and Patricia (McKinley) Hobart. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1956.
On August 11, 1962, Lynne married Kenneth V. “Mike” Maitland at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, with Fr. LaBrouse officiating. In 1973, they made their home on Thompson Boulevard, where they lovingly raised their family.
Lynne devoted herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother until the age of 40, when she began working at New York Air Brake. She later served as a Ward Secretary at the Madonna Home of the Aging in Watertown.
A talented quilter, Lynne found great joy in creating beautiful quilts and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Maitland and Julie (Gaetano) Williams, both of Watertown; two grandchildren, McKenna and Maria Williams of Watertown; her siblings, Francine (John) Keyes of Auburn, MA, Howard (Sharon) Hobart of Chattanooga, TN, and Leonard Hobart of Knoxville, TN; her dear cousin, Michael (Ginger) Hobart of Hamburg, NY; and her faithful canine companion, Nikki.
Lynne was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, who passed away on October 12, 2016, her parents, and her sister, Randy McCloud.
