Rochester, N.Y. — New York State Police said a 40-year-old raped a 15-year-old boy after using a dating app to set up a meeting with him.

Police said Tasha Evans communicated with the boy through Tinder and arranged a meeting, with a sexual encounter occurring Sept. 30.

The investigation began the next day, according to police, after the New York State Office of Children and Family Services made a law enforcement referral.

Police said troopers executed search warrants, seized electronic devices, conducted interviews and obtained evidence that corroborated the victim’s account.

Evans was arrested Friday, according to police, charged with rape and use of a child under age 17 in a sexual performance.

Monroe County Jail records indicate Evans was held on $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
