MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Crews extinguished an early-morning apartment fire on the north side of Manhattan, officials said.
The blaze was reported at 6:05 a.m. Thursday at 1300 Marlatt Avenue.
Upon their arrival, crews found a small fire visible through the front window of a first-floor apartment in a two-story, eight-unit apartment building.

Crews extinguished the blaze within sevn minutes of their arrival.
A total of 18 firefighters responded on six apparatus.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, though Manhattan Fire Department officials said foul play isn’t suspected.
No injuries were reported, and no one was home at the time of the fire, which was reported by a passerby.
The loss to contents was estimated at $5,000. No structural damage was reported.
“We’ve had two apartment fires this week that could have resulted in major damage,” said Manhattan Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Almes. “These incidents are a good reminder that early notification to 911 combined with quick fire department response can lead to positive outcomes.”
