Brooklyn’s 2026 summer scene is packed with free outdoor concerts and community dance parties. Major highlights include Prospect Park’s BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! festival and the throwback Freedom Party in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Williamsburg’s Domino Square offers bi-weekly “Salsa by the Water” with beginner lessons, while Dumbo brings bluegrass to the Archway for the Brooklyn Americana Music Festival. For neighborhood block parties, locals can hit the legendary Soul Summit festival in Fort Greene Park or the Hancock Street Block Party in Bed-Stuy.

New York’s longest-running throwback dance party moves outdoors, with DJ Herbert Holler spinning hip-hop, R&B, reggae, house, disco and pop from the ’60s through the 2000s. Picnic food and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome; no glass, no pets. Register free.

Brooklyn Americana Music Festival

The 12th annual festival runs September 10–13, and Saturday the 12th is the free all-ages day under the Manhattan Bridge, with roots, bluegrass and country on the Archway stage. One note for Clinton Hill: the neighborhood’s big free street dance, the St. James Place block party thrown by father-and-son DJs Saint James Joy, held its 2026 edition on July 25 and has no second summer date on the calendar. Their schedule is the place to watch for a fall party.

Third Avenue goes car-free and the music comes outside with it: bands, DJs and karaoke set up in front of bars and restaurants the length of the route, with live salsa a regular fixture. Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra Under the Stars

A 30-piece orchestra turns a Bay Ridge parking lot into an open-air concert hall, with vocalist Amelia Milo and clarinetist Yu Ting on a program that runs from Copland’s “Hoe Down” to Gershwin and Broadway.
