Included in the Brooklyn Park Police Department’s emergency alerts were these incidents:
July 24 — At approximately 9:15 p.m., Brooklyn Park Police Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Brookdale Drive North on a report of a male punching a female inside a vehicle. The reporting party was a witness who observed the assault and was not involved. Officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled from officers with the possible victim still inside. Officers initiated a pursuit until Minnesota State Patrol Air Support was able to take over aerial surveillance. The suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop, and officers conducted a high‑risk arrest. The driver was taken into custody without further incident and was booked for multiple charges related to the assault and fleeing.
July 25 — At approximately 9:45 a.m., officers with the Brooklyn Park Police Department were investigating a call of a disturbance and threats within the Noma 1 apartments in the 7300 block of 73rd Avenue North. The subject of the call threatened to shoot officers and others. Officers attempted to negotiate with the individual, but he refused to come out of his apartment. The Tactical Response Unit was called to the scene where Crisis Negotiators continued attempting to get the suspect to exit peacefully. After several hours of unsuccessful attempts to get the suspect to surrender with no progress, members of the SWAT team used chemical irritants in the apartment to dislodge the individual. Shortly after the suspect walked out to officers and was arrested without further incident. There were no injuries in this incident, the individual was arrested related to the threats, and investigators continue to gather facts in this case.
– At 10:35 p.m., officers responded to the 7300-block of Douglas Drive for shots heard in the area. During the initial investigation, multiple witnesses were found. It was learned that a dark colored SUV, similar to an older model Chevy Tahoe, was driving at a high rate of speed South on Douglas Drive when two shots were heard. It is believed the shots originated from the SUV. No injuries or property damage were located or reported.
July 26 — At approximately 01:23 a.m., Brooklyn Park Police received several 911 calls reporting possible gunshots heard in the area. Callers described the sounds as resembling automatic gunfire. The reported location covered a wide area. Callers provided boundaries from the vicinity of 73rd Ave N and Newton Ave N, extending to Brookdale Drive, and west to Vincent Avenue North. Officers checked the areas described but were unable to locate any evidence, due to the large geographic area in which callers reported hearing the possible shots.
July 27 — At approximately 04:26 a.m., Brooklyn Park Police responded to a report of a single gunshot heard in the 7400 block of Colorado Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers located evidence confirming that one round had been fired, along with indications of a possible fight or struggle in the area. Officers canvassed the neighborhood but did not locate any victims or suspects at this time. This investigation remains ongoing.
