The MTA says it’s making major changes to improve accessibility for riders who depend on elevators to use the subway.
The agreement settles a long-running class action lawsuit brought by disability advocates, requiring the MTA to provide much more detailed information when elevators are out of service.
Dr. Sharon McLennon-Wier, executive director of the Center for Independence of the Disabled New York, joined NY1 to discuss the settlement.
