Police are on the hunt for a gunman who shot a man to death from behind on a Bronx street early Monday morning.
According to police sources, cops from the 49th Precinct rushed to a home located at 672 Sagamore St. just after 6 a.m. after a 911 call reported that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 50-year-old man with multiple bullet wounds to his buttocks, lower back, and back of his head.
When EMS arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the scene. The man’s identity is being withheld pending proper family notification. However, sources say that he did not live at that location but does hail from the Bronx. He also has prior contact with law enforcement.
While the motive for the slaying is not clear, police said that the suspected shooter wore a light-colored sweater and fled in a blue vehicle on White Plains Road.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
