BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Demolition is complete and shovels have broken ground at the corner of 205 Montague St. and Cadman Plaza West in Brooklyn Heights, site of a planned 51-story mixed-use luxury tower.
The building, to be marketed as “One Montague Place,” (not to be confused with 1 Montague Terrace, at the other end of Montague Street) is being developed by Jonathan Landau of Landau Properties, with design by Hill West Architects and Linda Zarifi Design.

The new tower will include half-floor, full-floor, and triplex residences beginning at 3,000 square feet, each with private outdoor space and killer views of New York Harbor and the Manhattan skyline, according to a statement from Landau on Instagram. The building will feature 136 units: 46 condominiums and 90 rental apartments. Sales will launch in 2027. The project is expected to be completed in 2029.
The building will also be home to a jazz club, a membership club, and a “curated suite of lifestyle and wellness amenities,” he said.

According to One Montague Place’s lead broker Gregg Williamson of Douglas Elliman, the building will feature 46 ultra-luxury condo residences and 90 rentals, with “expansive private and shared outdoor spaces.” High-end Japanese restaurant BondST will be opening its first Brooklyn outpost in the building.
Williamson, a Brooklyn Heights native, is a founding partner of Love Rocks NYC and co-founder of the invite-only Soho Sessions, which brings together big musical names to raise funds for charity. He will take the jazz club under his wing, according to the New York Post.

A filing with the New York City Department of Buildings shows that One Montague Place will include retail space and an underground garage. Early plans indicate parking spaces for at least 100 vehicles.

In the 1930s and 1940s, the corner was home to the 10-story Mechanics Bank building housing the offices of the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was there that Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson to a minor league contract in August, 1945, leading to Robinson eventually breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier. A plaque that had hung on the building to commemorate the historical event is “safely in storage” and will be returned, the developer told the Brooklyn Heights Association.
