A hit-and-run driver in a dark SUV struck and killed a woman near LeFrak City in Corona on Aug. 1 .

Police from the 110th Precinct are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman near LeFrak City in Corona on the night of Saturday, Aug. 1.
The victim was standing in the northbound bike lane on 99th Street just after 1:30 a.m. when she was run over by the motorist who was behind the wheel of an unknown dark-colored SUV that was traveling northbound on 99th Street, according to the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad. The driver sped off northbound on 99th Street toward Corona Avenue. Police from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at the location and found the woman lying on the roadway. EMS rushed her to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending proper family notification.
There are no arrests and the investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.

Through July 26, the 110th Precinct has reported three traffic fatalities so far in 2026, one more than the two reported at the same point last year, an increase of 50%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
