Update: The New York State Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in the search for Daniel E. Conklin, age 38.
On August 3, 2026, Daniel Conklin was located deceased in a wooded area off State Highway 205 in the town of Laurens. He was last seen on July 14, 2026.
The investigation is continuing, and his cause of death will be determined by a Medical Examiner.
The New York State Police extend their sincere condolences to Mr. Conklin’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

New York State Police at Oneonta are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing man.
Daniel E. Conklin was last on July 14, 2026 when he was observed walking along State Highway 205 not far from the Mirabito in Laurens.
Conklin is described as a 5-foot-11 white male, weighing approximately 212 pounds, with reddish hair, a reddish beard, and blue eyes. He does have tattoos on his arms. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve Calvin Klein shirt with the logo across the chest, blue jeans, a tan trucker-style hat with writing on it, black Puma sneakers, gray socks and carrying a black and white animal print Nike backpack.
Since he was reported missing, Troopers have checked with family and friends, checked local hospitals and hotels, and followed up on reported sightings of Conklin, all without success. Troopers have also searched the area commonly referred to as “Tent City” in Oneonta.
