DUMBO – A MAN WHO jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge’s north tower on Sunday afternoon has been charged with reckless endangerment and other offenses, after being fished from the water by the New York Police Department’s Harbor Unit, reports amNY.
Galymzhan Abaildayev, 44, of Brooklyn, was spotted climbing to the north tower at around 2:30 p.m. The bridge was then closed to pedestrian traffic, but before officers were able to make contact with Abaildayev, police said, he removed his clothes and leapt from the tower into the water below. He was brought to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, following the rescue.
Reports said he had been carrying a Kazakh flag and a blanket covered with unclear writing.
