This fall, many of the art world’s biggest galleries will be taking over New York City.
Art Week NYC, a massive contemporary art festival, just announced all 76 world-renowned galleries that will be participating in the inaugural celebration. Presented by Artforum, ARTNews, and Art in America, the first-of-its-kind extravaganza is taking place from November 11 to 14.
The fun won’t be restricted to one neighborhood, either. Programming will take place all over the city, from Chelsea to the Upper East Side to Tribeca and the Lower East Side. A wide berth of institutions stepping into the fray via the gallery program, presented by Artforum (owned by Robb Report’s parent company, Penske Media Corp., alongside ARTNews and Art in America), including names such as David Zwirner, Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, Lisson, Paula Cooper Gallery, and Pace Gallery—and much more.
“Our vision for Art Week NYC began with the galleries,” Danielle McConnell, publisher of Artforum, said in a press statement. “The galleries are where artists are discovered, careers are built, and the conversation around contemporary art moves forward. By bringing them together under one citywide platform, we’re creating an experience that reflects the strength and diversity of New York’s gallery community. We’re excited to invite audiences to see art where it is best seen, at the galleries and museums across the city.”
The four-day schedule will highlight exhibitions, openings, performances, and artist talks across the Big Apple to give visitors and locals alike a proper immersion in N.Y.C.’s bustling art scene. A full day of programming in partnership with the New Museum is also on the roster. Plus, ARTnews will host the Art Week NYC Hub, a gathering space for live interviews, panels, and more with some of the industry’s top leaders.
And this is just a preview of what’s ahead. Throughout the coming months, additional events, VIP experiences, and more will be announced. You can head to Art Week NYC’s website to keep up with all the details.
