A $22 million project will bring a regional health and wellness campus to Wayne County. The property will house Lattimore Physical Therapy and a new community center in the village of Newark.
The village announced a 25-year naming rights commitment of $2 million from ESL Federal Credit Union, securing the name ESL Health and Wellness Campus through 2052. New York state is contributing more than $3 million toward the project in downtown revitalization funds. Project organizers say they continue to seek additional capital funds to complete the project.
“The ESL Health and Wellness Campus will provide a regional, accessible, year-round opportunity for everyone in Newark and beyond. ESL is partnering with us to give our community access to sports and wellness activities in a state-of-the-art facility with exceptional programming,” said Newark Mayor Jonathan Taylor.

The new campus will be located between Van Buren and Siegrist streets.
The Lattimore building is expected to be completed in 2027.
The second building will house the new Alex Eligh Community Center featuring a six-lane indoor track and field event space, an indoor turf field for soccer, lacrosse and multi-sport training, several courts for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, fitness equipment, multi-purpose rooms for senior wellness, youth activities and community events and dedicated school-aged child care and after-school program space, according to village officials.
The new community center is set to be completed in 2028.
