At least 1 hurt in fire at Bronx building, FDNY says

At least one person was injured after a fire broke out at a building in the Bronx Monday afternoon, the FDNY said. 

The department said it responded to a report of an explosion and fire at a five-story building on East 209th Street, between Decatur Avenue and Parkside Place in Norwood, just before 12:30 p.m. 

Firefighters discovered a blaze on the second and third floors of the building, according to the department. 

The FDNY said one civilian was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. 

New York City Emergency Management said to expect smoke, traffic delays and emergency vehicles in the area. 

As of 1:50 p.m., the fire had escalated to a five-alarm blaze, the FDNY said.
