Aug. 6, Wycliffe Gordon, 7 pm. The Queens Jazz Trail Concert Series continues with trombonist, composer, and educator Wycliffe Gordon, who is celebrated for his powerful sound and masterful plunger mute technique. Rockaway Beach Park Amphitheater, Beach 94th Street.

Aug. 7, Festival of Cinema NYC, Aug. 16. Ten days of screenings, networking parties, workshops, panel discussions, seminars, and other events geared toward independent filmmakers. Various venues, including Regal UA Midway, 108-22 Queens Blvd., Forest Hills.

Aug. 7, BADSISTA, 4 pm. The 50th annual Warm Up 2026 series continues with BADSISTA, TOCCORORO, Toxe, and nguyendowsXP. MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Ave., Long Island City.

Aug. 8, Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, Aug. 9. It’s the Year of the Horse, and this 36th annual festival mixes culture, races, food, and family-friendly fun over two days. Meadow Lake, Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Aug. 8, The Bankra Caribbean Culture Festival, 3 pm. This day-long festival celebrates Caribbean culture with such activities as basket-weaving, drumming, dancing, storytelling, stilt-walkers, and life–sized puppets. Richie Stephens headlines the music section with the Braata Singers, Creole Rock, and City South Steel Orchestra. Aug. 8, Infinity Day, 11:30 am. A day-long celebration of infinity and mathematics, including films, talks, and hands-on activities. Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Ave., Astoria’s Kaufman Arts District.

Aug. 8, The Art of Storytelling Opening Day, 1 pm. The Ankhlave Garden project returns to Queens Botanical Garden with original artworks by six BIPOC artists. Celebrate the launch with a tour and opening reception. QBG, 43-50 Main St., Flushing.

Aug. 8, NPC East Coast Mecca Classic, noon. This is NYC’s premier amateur bodybuilding and physique competition and a national qualifying contest for the National Physique Committee. Goldstein Theatre, Queens College, 153-49 Reeves Ave., Flushing.

Aug. 8, Infinity Day, 10 am. A celebration of one of math’s most abstract (and fascinating) ideas. As part of the Simons Foundation’s Infinite Sums initiative, this event invites visitors to discover how infinity can be observed and understood. Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main St., Flushing.

Aug. 8, Mapping Queens: Voices Behind the Festivals, 3 pm. An inside look at the Queens Cultural Mapping Report. Attendees learn how this initiative advances arts and culture in Queens and hear what’s next. The World’s Borough Bookshop, 34-06 73rd St., Jackson Heights.

Aug. 9, Guachinangos, 6 pm. The Summer Sundays in the Park series continues with a Son Jarocho band. Travers Park, 78th Street between 34th Avenue and Northern Boulevard, Jackson Heights.

Aug. 9, Jackson Heights Day, noon. A six-hour, five-block community celebration with entertainment, shopping, food, wellness, youth activities, culture, and tabling. Aug. 9, South Asian Parade, noon. A celebration featuring traditions from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives. On 37th Avenue from 69th Street to 89th Street, Jackson Heights.

Aug. 9, Hallet’s Cove in the American Revolution, 2 pm. Travel back to the turbulent years of the American Revolution and discover a side of Astoria that few people know. Lasting about one hour, the tour ends at the Advance Masonic Temple, whose Blackwell Door dates to Revolutionary times. Meet at Socrates Sculpture Park, 32-01 Vernon Blvd., Long Island City.
