TOWN OF LOUISVILLE, New York (WWNY) – A portion of Route 37 in St. Lawrence County is closed to traffic after a crane truck overturned.
The crash happened shortly after noon in the eastbound lane of Route 37 in the town of Louisville near Massena Central School.
As of 6 p.m., the eastbound lane was still closed to traffic.
State police said 58-year-old Frank Ledeay of Bloomington, Texas, was driving a Peterbilt crane truck when he exited the roadway for an unknown reason.
Troopers said the truck entered the median, overturned, and came to rest in the roadway.
Ledeay was freed from the wreckage and taken to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment.
He was later airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital.
The New York State Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to the scene to inspect the truck.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the state Department of Transportation, the Louisville and Massena Fire and Rescue, the Massena Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
