Police are investigating whether a man who was found dead on a Bronx sidewalk on Thursday morning succumbed to an overdose.

According to law enforcement sources, a man, believed to be in his 40s, was discovered unconscious and unresponsive under a sidewalk shed located at 154 East 175th St. in Mount Hope at around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 6.

Officers from the 46th Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS, who pronounced the man dead at the scene. He did not have identification on his person and remains unidentified. However, sources believe that he has been homeless.

Police sources say that the individual had no signs of trauma and drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, leading officials to believe he suffered an overdose.

Police do not believe the death to be criminal in nature at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause of the man’s death, police said.
