I love nature and all that it has to offer throughout New York state. Each season brings something new for us to see and to also take in the beauty around us.
We also get to see our favorite, furry friends. From squirrels to chipmunks, birds and more, these little creatures are a delight. It’s important for us to make our yards a place where they want to visit and continue to return to.
Where You Should Actually Place Your Bird Feeder In Your New York State Yard
Birds are beautiful creatures and I enjoy hearing their songs. Enthusiasts can take in the sights with their binoculars and use apps on their phones to understand which song relates to each bird.
While at times, we may place things in our yard for our furry friends, we may not take into consideration where they should go.
Should We Keep Bird Feeders Away From Houses In New York State?
MSN shared some highlights of where bird feeders should actually be placed in our yards. Some advice that they included relates to placing bird feeders away from any other animals including cats.
In addition to that, MSN also recommends that placing a bird feeder about “30 feet or more” away from homes allows birds to have enough space to fly in and out safely.
They explained that placing bird feeders away from garages is also a good idea. Instead, we can place these feeders under a tree and near gardens.
Placement in yards is ideal for birds to visit and to return to but Birds and Blooms mentioned that the height is important too. Be sure to place your bird feeders high.
Should Bird Feeders And Hummingbird Feeders Be Near One Around In Yards?
The Spruce included helpful information about hummingbird feeders. They explained that the feeder should be placed away from windows and other birds as well. The Spruce explained that hummingbirds can be territorial and their stations should be placed throughout yards.
While it’s fun to place bird food out and get them cute places to feed from, we now know where to properly place them for their best benefit.
Some of my favorite birds are cardinals, black capped chickadees and woodpeckers! Be sure to keep your eye out for blue jays, finches, sparrows and more in New York state.
