Danny Mondello, known online as “Cug,” has turned sandwiches into a social media phenomenon. Garlic powder “runs through his veins,” and he doesn’t just slice a loaf of bread, he “rips open a gluten goddess.” He started posting in 2015 while working as a line cook at the former Miggy’s Supermarket in Rossville. Today, he boasts the largest audience of any Staten Island-born creator with over 73 million likes. In July 2025 he opened a sandwich shop, Casa Cugine, where he serves up the Italian favorites he’s passionately posted about for years.
