Charlie Licata won the Staten Island FerryHawks’ Italian Heritage Night meatball-eating contest after skipping food all day and drinking water. He ate 11 meatballs and took home a $500 gift card to Millie’s of Staten Island at Staten Island University Hospital Northwell Health Community Park. The night included Italian food, music, family fun, a block party, and a fireworks show over the Staten Island waterfront. Fans took part in a wing-to-wing waddle, a dizzy pizza peel contest, and a McDonald’s mini-manager chance, while Charlie Romo sang the National Anthem. On the field, Staten Island won the opener 3-2 before Long Island answered with a 12-1 win in the nightcap.
