On August 5, 2026, State Police arrested James R. Young, 44, of Hoosick, NY, for Arson 4th, a class “E” felony. 

On August 5, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., troopers responded to a property on State Route 67 in Hoosick for reports of a structure fire. The investigation determined that Young had allegedly intentionally set fire to a pile of debris on his property. That fire reportedly spread to a neighbor’s property, causing their outbuilding also to catch fire and be destroyed. 

Young was arrested at the scene and transported to SP Brunswick for processing. He was then arraigned at the Schaghticoke Town Court, where he was remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
