The footwear brand partnership comes just ahead of his induction on the Manhattan Beach Pier Walk of Fame
As volleyball star Chase Budinger gets ready to hit some major milestones, the South Bay resident is gearing up by joining the Skechers family.
The seven-season NBA player and now professional beach volleyball star grew up playing both sports. Focusing on basketball at the University of Arizona, Budinger went on to be selected as the No. 44 pick of the 2009 NBA draft to play for teams like the Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers and the Phoenix Suns. Pivoting to beach volleyball years later, he established himself as a noteworthy figure on the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) circuit and even represented Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Budinger’s Skechers partnership announcement comes just before his induction to the Manhattan Beach Pier Walk of Fame, cementing his connection to the Manhattan Beach community and great contributions to beach volleyball. He is also gearing up to play at the AVP Manhattan Beach Open August 14-16.
“I’ve always believed that the best performances come when you feel your best,” said Budinger. “That’s exactly what Skechers represents to me. Being based in Manhattan Beach, competing on these sands, and now partnering with a brand that shares this community as its home makes it all feel incredibly natural. I’m excited to represent Skechers and to be part of a roster of athletes who are pushing the boundaries of what performance looks like.”

The 38-year-old athlete is the third beach volleyball pro to join Skechers’ roster of athletes following fellow AVP pros Miles Partain and Andy Benesh. Audiences at the AVP Manhattan Beach Open can expect to see Budinger wearing Skechers’ apparel on and off the sand.
Pairing Budinger’s explosive athleticism with Skechers’ innovative drive, this new partnership aims to bring quality apparel and footwear to athletes both in game and in life.
