NEW YORK — Luigi Mangione was expected to plead guilty on Friday to federal stalking-related charges tied to the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan.
Sources familiar with the matter shared that information with NBC News. Details of the expected plea were not immediately clear.
The expected plea came less than a month before Mangione was scheduled to go on trial in a separate murder case tied to Thompson’s death.
Mangione could still change that decision at any point, including during the hearing.
If he was convicted, he could face a life sentence.
