The Queens parolee arrested after a rotting dog was found in his home on Thursday was also hit with drug charges, along with his wife.
According to police sources, 55-year-old Wei Lin was not only hit with aggravated cruelty to animals, but he was also slapped with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Sources familiar with the investigation report that he was found with a defaced Smith and Westen handgun and meth amphetamine.
Parole officers arrived at Lin’s 13-14 College Point Blvd residence for a compliance check when they were met with a horrific smell. Lin had been on parole since April of 2025. Sources say that when Lin’s wife caught him cheating, he attacked her and threatened her with a firearm.
“I don’t even want to go inside, it smells so bad,” one of the officers told amNewYork.

Inside the residence, authorities allegedly found a deceased dog that appeared to have been left to starve. Neighbors said they had not seen the animal for some time and claimed the 55-year-old suspect had a history of abusing a German Shepherd in the front yard, sparking repeated conflicts with residents.
“He treats his dog pretty badly. He would kick the dog when it would not listen to him. When the weather is like 90 degrees outside, or when it’s freezing cold, he just left the dog outside. He never lets the dog inside the house,” next-door neighbor Lionel Chok said.
Chok also stated that Lin threatened his sister when they confronted him over the abuse.
Another local told amNewYork that he is a known drug addict.
“He’s on crystal meth, dude. He’s not a normal person,” Pete Pagan said, adding that he had noticed the foul stench recently. “I would pass by, and I wasn’t sure if it was mold or the smell of death.”

Police officers were seen wearing latex gloves and face masks as they searched the property, with some swatting away flies while entering the home’s garage. When authorities opened the front door, a putrid odor drifted onto the street.
Lin was taken out of his home in handcuffs and mumbled incoherently as amNewYork pressed him with questions.
Lin also lived with his wife, despite reportedly having a restraining order against him. She was also arrested on Thursday. 40-year-old Yan Lin was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
