BROOKLYN, Ill. (First Alert 4) – The mayors of Brooklyn and Venice, Illinois, have partnered to establish a juvenile curfew for minors under the age of 17.
The curfew takes effect next week. On weeknights, minors must be off the streets by 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, the curfew begins at 11 p.m.
First-time violators will receive a warning. The curfew will remain in place not only during the school year but year-round.
Context in the region
St. Louis City implemented a juvenile curfew in its downtown area six weeks ago following gun battles, reckless “slideshows” and teen takeovers that put public safety at risk earlier this year. That curfew, set at 9 p.m., runs through Labor Day.
