SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Briar Cliff Chargers volleyball team hosts the BCU Triangular on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Newman Flanagan Center.
The Chargers enter the season with a new-look roster following several departures, but return key contributors up front. Aubrey Hoeft, the team’s blocks leader, and fellow all-conference player Brooklyn Voss are both back. Senior Reese Strouth also returns at the setter position.
Head coach Lauren Boatman said mental approach will be a focal point for the team this season.
“It’s not really being mentally tough in the sense people would think — it’s more like having a great attitude, giving your very best, treating each other really well and being unconditionally grateful regardless of your circumstances,” Boatman said.
Strouth said the team is ready to compete after a productive offseason.
“I’m so excited — it was a great summer, everyone worked so hard and now we’re just ready to go,” Strouth said.
Hoeft echoed that sentiment heading into the new season.
“We’re super excited and super pumped for this upcoming season — just can’t wait,” Hoeft said.
