A Brooklyn lottery store hoped its hot streak continued on Saturday after it sold three $50,000 Powerball tickets earlier this week.
Jimmy Patel, owner of a store in Brooklyn’s Homecrest neighborhood, hopes the next big winner walks through his doors.
The jackpot was up to $20 million on Saturday, which sent hopeful players back to Patel’s store to try their luck.
“It’s a lucky store,” Patel said.
For regular player Jose Gonsalez, however, the luck hasn’t quite arrived yet. He says he spent $20 on the latest drawing but his numbers didn’t hit.
“I played that day…I played $20 but my numbers wasn’t the one that won,” Gonsalez said.
Then there’s Roxane Eskenazi, who said she’s won about $500 at the store a few times.
She’s so loyal to the location, she said she’ll walk 20 blocks just to buy a ticket there.
“They have other places you could play but for some reason, I like to play there,” Eskenazi said.
Patel said the biggest prize ever sold at the store was a $5 million scratch-off ticket in 2013.
He said he still hasn’t heard from the winners of this week’s $50,000 tickets.
He also hopes the store’s biggest winner yet brings him some luck as well.
“I hope the customer comes back and takes care of me,” Patel said.
