A 64-year-old man died after being arrested and taken into police custody in East Harlem on Friday.
According to police, the 64-year-old began to have a medical episode inside 120 East 119th St., at around 12:20 p.m.
The NYPD’s 25th Precinct is located at that address.
Police officers took life-saving measures and EMS transported the man to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead, the NYPD says.
The 64-year-old man was taken into custody earlier in the day after police were called to a veterans residence over a report of a man acting violently with a weapon, the Daily News reports.
The man was taken to the precinct, turned down medical attention and then began suffering a medical episode, according to the outlet.
The Medical Examiner’s office will determine the man’s cause of death, and the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is looking into the incident, police say.
The 64-year-old’s identity is being withheld until proper family notification.
