It has been quite a few months for soccer in New York, with the excitement from the World Cup adding to the sport’s growing momentum across the city.
Gotham FC has been a major part of that growth. The Bats have won two of the last three NWSL championships and continue to draw bigger crowds, including 42,000 fans who turned out at Citi Field for the club’s match against the Washington Spirit last month.
Savannah McCaskill is one of the newest additions to Gotham FC. The veteran midfielder joined the team in January after playing for five other NWSL clubs and has also represented the United States internationally.
McCaskill joined “Mornings On 1” on a rare day off to talk about Gotham FC, the growth of women’s soccer in New York and what’s ahead for the team.
