A 19-year-old tourist from Australia was repeatedly stabbed in what is believed to be an unprovoked attack inside the McDonald’s across from Penn Station early Monday, authorities say.
Cops were called to the Eighth Avenue scene around 2 a.m. for a report of assault and found the victim wounded in the torso. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.
A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, police say. No charges have been filed at this time.
No other details on the circumstances were immediately available.
The NYPD says its investigation is ongoing.
