NYC Public Schools to hand out OMNY cards to students

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — As the start of the school year approaches, families are actively preparing for the first day of school.

For families looking into transportation for their students, New York City Public Schools will distribute Student OMNY cards for the new year, which provide four free rides per day on subways and city buses.

The Student OMNY card will be active through the entire school year and the summer. The cards, which are not available through the MTA, do not expire until the following school year.

If a Student OMNY card is lost or stolen, families can report it to the school to obtain a replacement.

Student OMNY cards can also be used to ride on Staten Island Railways, the Roosevelt Tram, and the Hudson Rail Link.
