NEW YORK (PIX11) — A Connecticut company is issuing a recall of packages of dog food sold to retailers in the tri-state region and brought online by consumers due to Salmonella contamination.
Oma’s Pride is recalling one lot of Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe after the Food and Drug Administration received a consumer complaint and a sample of the product was analyzed.
During the FDA test, Salmonella was detected in the sample, and Oma’s Pride is investigating the source and root cause of the contamination.
To date, three dogs have reportedly been sick from the contaminated dog food.
Symptoms of pets with Salmonella infection
Lethargy
Diarrhea or bloody diarrhea
Fever
Vomiting
Some pets may only have decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected pets could end up infecting other animals and humans.
If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has any of these symptoms, it is advised to call your veterinarian.

Consumers who have the product should stop feeding the product immediately and dispose of it safely. Contact Oma’s Pride for a refund.
In addition to New York and New Jersey, the product was sold in Arizona, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia to retailers and wholesalers.
