UTICA, N.Y. — The last statewide Free Fishing Day of 2025 will take place Tuesday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day.
On these days of free fishing, New York waives the fishing license requirement for freshwater fishing. However, all other freshwater fishing regulations will still apply.
Hochul said, “Fall is a great time of year to fish in New York’s pristine waters while honoring a veteran in your life.”
In addition to Free Fishing Days, New York State offers free or reduced-fee fishing licenses for veterans and active-duty military members.
These discounts are available for those meeting certain criteria, with reductions of 40 percent or more for eligible individuals.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced that Sept. 27 will be a Free Fishing Day in New York State.
