Mfoniso Udofia’s new play, presented as part of Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 series, will run at the Claire Tow Theater for six weeks starting in September.
Lincoln Center Theater has named the complete cast and creative team for the world premiere creation stories and all the important importants, a new Off-Broadway play written by Mfoniso Udofia and directed by Tamilla Woodard. Performances run for six weeks at the Claire Tow Theater beginning September 15, with opening night on November 1.
The cast includes Savannah Commodore as The Little Girl, Donnetta Lavinia Grays as Alexa/Mr. Cornell, and Abigail Onwunali as The Grown Woman/The Raffia, with Justyce Taylor as an understudy.
The show also has set design by Jason Ardizzone-West, costume design by Sarafina Bush, lighting design by Alan C. Edwards, sound design by Bailey Trierweiler and UptownWorks, projection design by Katherine Freer, and movement direction by Adesola Osakalumi.
Udofia’s creation stories and all the important importants is described as a folktale about a midlife Black woman navigating her many selves — child, artist, future daughter, possible mother — as well as the limits of time and her own body. The production is part of Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 series for new works by emerging playwrights.
