OHIO, N.Y. — A motorcycle rider died after crashing into a tractor-trailer on State Route 8 in the town of Ohio Tuesday morning.
New York State Police reported the crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. Troopers said a 21-year-old man from Wolcott was riding a 2026 Yamaha motorcycle northbound when he failed to make a right-hand curve.
The motorcycle crossed into the southbound lane and hit a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by James E. Day, 47, of Ontario, Canada.
After the crash, the motorcycle left the road and struck a tree. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Drug Recognition Expert determined the tractor-trailer driver was not impaired.
The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation.
