Bronx bicyclist killed by speeding hit-and-run BMW driver who then hits 4 vehicles

A Bronx bicyclist was killed by a speeding hit-and-run BMW driver, police said Wednesday.

Angelo Camera was crossing Bruckner Blvd. on his bike at Longwood Ave. in the South Bronx when he was struck about 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, police. said.

The driver was speeding north on the boulevard when he slammed into Camera and then hit two parked unoccupied vehicles — a 2012 Camaro and a 2017 Lexus — before speeding off, cops said.

As he drove off north on Bruckner Blvd., he made it one block before hitting a 2009 Hyundai Sonata whose driver, a 37-year-old woman, was stopped at a red light at Lafayette Ave., police said.

He then sideswiped a 2019 Volkswagen, with debris from that impact striking a 2005 Chevy Explorer.

The hit-and-run driver, who then ditched the BMW and appears to have gotten into another car to escape, is still being sought.

Camera, 41, and the Hyundai driver were taken by medics to Lincoln Hospital but Camera could not be saved. He lived a mile from the crash scene, according to cops. The woman is in stable condition.
