Red Bull Theater will revive the seldom-produced Cole Porter musical Out of This World with a one-night-only concert performance December 14, the company’s holiday benefit presentation. Marc Vietor will direct, with casting to be announced.

The musical, which originally bowed on Broadway with a brief run in 1950, is an adaptation of Plautus’ Amphitryon, a comedy following Roman gods Jupiter, Mercury, and Juno as they entertain themselves by meddling in the lives of humans. The work features a book by Dwight Taylor and Reginald Lawrence. Red Bull will use a concert adaptation by David Ives for the upcoming performance.

Also newly announced for the company’s upcoming season is a world premiere staging for Bill Cain‘s God’s Spies, previously developed and presented publicly in Red Bull’s 2024 20th Anniversary Festival. The work centers on Shakespeare as he attempts to write his next great play while caught in the middle of the 1603 plague that shuttered London’s theatres. Performances will run January 19-February 14, 2027, at 59E59 Theaters. Nathan Winkelstein will again direct, after helming the 2024 presentation.

The company is also co-presenting Jacob Ming-Trent‘s solo show, How Shakespeare Saved My Life, previously announced to be performing Off-Broadway at The Public Theater September 15-October 18. The show was also previously presented at Red Bull’s 2024 Festival. This upcoming bow is part of a rolling world premiere that also includes runs at Berkeley Repertory Theater and Folger Theatre. Tony Taccone is directing.

Red Bull’s Revelation Reading series will also be back in 2026. Works scheduled to be performed in the in-person and online series include Luis Vélez de Guevara’s The King Born a Woman (October 5), Percy Bysshe Shelley’s The Cenci (November 5), Anna Ziegler‘s The Janeiad (February 8, 2027), Corneille’s Le Cid (March 1, 2027), Luis Quintero’s Hippolytus/Phedra (March 29, 2027), Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen‘s Crime and Punishment (April 19, 2027), and Philip Masssinger’s The Roman Actor (May 17, 2027). The Short New Play Festival will return in-person and online June 21, offering eight world premieres to be announced.
