The battle for control over the Brooklyn Democratic Party, one of the largest county parties in the country, continues to heat up.
Reformers with the New Kings Democrats claim they have the votes to oust current party chair, Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn.
However, Hermelyn is now proposing a rule change that could upend those plans.
She joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to talk about the future of the Brooklyn Democratic Party.
“We are expanding our executive committee to include more dually elected county committee, Assembly district representatives members and any other people who are elected in their communities,” Hermelyn said.
“And this is for the purpose of building a more inclusive leadership. It’s about expanding our reputation and it’s also bringing more ideas to the table,” she continued.
Hermelyn’s district covers all or part of Little Haiti, Flatbush and South Midwood in Brooklyn.
