DEC Forest Rangers and New York State Police disrupted a underage drinking party at two state forests in Allegany County this past weekend.
ALLEGANY COUNTY, N.Y. — DEC Forest Rangers say that their agency and the New York State Police shut down a large party in Allegany County over the weekend.
According to the DEC, at around 1:30 a.m. on August 15, a forest ranger and state police allegedly prevented a “large underage drinking party” from starting at Vandermark State Forest.

The agencies then responded to Bully Hill State Forest after hearing that the group of around 100 people were planning to start a party. That crowd then left after state police arrived, and went back to Vandermark State Forest, where they were again told to leave.
An ambulance crew was called in for a medical emergency at Bully Hill State Forest, that person was treated and given a citation for illegal drug possession, according to the DEC. A forest ranger also put out a bonfire.
The DEC added that underage drinking, littering, lighting a fire on a road or parking area, and attending or organizing an event of 20 or more people without a permit is not permitted on state lands.
