Police are looking for two male suspects in connection to the death of a teenager in East New York, Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
Ahmir Jordan, 17, was gunned down in front of a deli on New Lots Avenue near Miller Avenue around 8:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.
First responders took him to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said he lived in Bed-Stuy, more than two miles away. Officials said it was unclear what led up to the shooting, and they are looking for two men in dark-colored clothing.
Jordan is at least the 13th teenager to die of gun violence in New York City so far this year, according to police data compiled by Gothamist. Two additional children have been killed in shootings this year: 12-year-old Jacob Freytes, who police said was an innocent bystander when he was hit by a bullet on his bike in the Bronx, and 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore, who was in a stroller with her family in Brooklyn when two men tried to shoot someone else.
A total of 25 teenagers were fatally shot across the city last year.
Police data shows that gun violence and murders are both on the decline in the 75 precinct, which includes East New York, with murders down 10% over last year and shooting incidents down about 3% over this time last year.
