Officers from the NYC Sheriff’s Joint Compliance Task Force (SJCTF) padlocked two convenience stores on 30th Avenue in Astoria after raids during the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 12 for selling illicit cannabis products and untaxed cigarettes.

With the assistance of the Queens District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police, the SJCTF executed a search warrant just after 6 p.m. at the 31st Mini Mart Corp., located at 31-03 30th Ave. and recovered 6.4 pounds of THC/Cannabis products, 55.7 cartons of untaxed cigarettes, 238.5 pounds of flavored vapes, 108.4 pounds of tobacco products, according to a spokesperson from the city’s Department of Finance (DOF).

The business was issued an immediate order of closure, a cease and desist order, multiple notices of violation, and the storefront was sealed.

The SJCTF moved on to a second location a half-dozen blocks east where they executed a search warrant at the In and Out on 37th Mart Corp. at 37-02 30th Ave. The officer seized 7.4 pounds of THC/Cannabis products, 34.7 cartons of untaxed cigarettes, and 121.8 pounds of flavored vapes, according to the DOF spokesperson.
