If your love language is doughy pockets stuffed with flavorful spice, consider this your edible soulmate. NYC’s largest Himalayan food and cultural festival is taking over Jackson Heights for one action-packed Sunday this fall, transforming the neighborhood into an absolute street-food paradise.

The 14th annual Momo Crawl returns this September, turning Diversity Plaza into an outdoor feast featuring decades of Tibetan, Nepalese, and South Asian culinary traditions—all served up for just $1 a dumpling.

Here’s everything you need to know to navigate the feast.

🥟 What to expect at the 14th annual Momo Crawl

For one delicious afternoon on Sunday, September 13, 2026, Diversity Plaza (37th Road between 73rd and 74th Streets) will become the beating heart of NYC’s Himalayan food scene.

Founded by Queens local Jeffrey Orlick to showcase hidden neighborhood gems, the event has expanded over 14 years from a tiny local meet-up into a full-scale cultural institution drawing thousands of food lovers.

Here’s what’s on the menu for 2026:

30+ Local Vendors: Sample $1 signature momos from iconic Queens staples including Amdo Kitchen, Gangri Karpo, Potala Fresh Food, Mom’s Momo, and local hidden gems

Live Himalayan Performances: The main stage will feature traditional acoustic sets, modern folk artists, and vibrant cultural dance performances throughout the day

The Momo Championship Belt: Every crawler receives an official ballot to vote for their favorite vendor. The winner takes home the coveted Momo Championship Belt (voting closes at 4:30 pm)

💡 Pro-tips for navigating the crawl

Divide and conquer: Lines get long past 1 pm. Go with a group, split up into different vendor lines, and meet in the plaza center to swap bites

Buy your Passport early: Passports sell out every single year prior to event day. Grab yours online weeks ahead to ensure entry

Bring small cash bills ($1s and $5s): While you buy your passport ticket online, individual dumplings are paid directly to vendors. Avoid holding up lines with large bills

Take the subway: Driving or parking near Diversity Plaza during the festival is nearly impossible. Take the 7, E, F, M, or R trains to Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Ave / 74th St—the plaza is right outside the station exit
