TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A man was hospitalized after a Thursday morning car-truck collision on the west side of Manhattan, officials said.
The crash was reported around 9:23 a.m. Thursday in the 4200 block of Kimball Avenue.
Riley County Police officials said responding officers found that a 2017 Toyota Camry, driven by Gerald Hughes, 87, of Manhattan, had collided with a 2025 International box truck, driven by Marcello Martinez, 24, of Independence, Missouri.

Hughes was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash.
Riley County Police officials said Hughes was issued a citation for improper driving on a roadway.
