WRGB Studios-Schenectady, NY — NYS Inspector General Lucy Lang released the Office’s 2025 NYS Gaming Commission Oversight Report this week, showing a changing, and expanding, gambling industry in New York State.
The report covers the year of 2025, finding 481 complaints levied against the Gaming Commission across the spectrum of New York’s wagering entities.
Of those 481 complaints, 228 were related to mobile sports wagering.
“What the report really highlights, I think most of all, is that phones are really the new casino, and there is a new normal with respect to gaming in New York State and beyond,” Lang told CBS6. “We saw nearly half of our complaints over the past year were related to mobile sports wagering, so we’re paying very careful attention to that evolving area of the industry.”
Lang says they’ll continue comprehensive training for Commission staff, which also includes three new Casinos opening in New York City in the next few years.
“Our training consists of training on the public officers law, and that is the oath that every public servant who serves New York State takes to operate with integrity and to report to the offices of the inspector general when they suspect fraud, misconduct, or abuse, and I remind all state employees and indeed all New Yorkers that if they suspect wrongdoing or corruption in New York State government, they should report it to us at 1-800-Do-Right.”
