When Betsy first walked 47th Street more than a decade ago, she discovered hidden cultural institutions, jewelers whose businesses ran on handshakes, neighborhood shops and Broadway history. Much has changed since then, but what surprised me most wasn’t how different the street feels — it was how many times it encouraged me to stop.
