It’s been another busy week in Hudson County, and we’ve got all the headlines to get you up to speed. Among the highlights: Hoboken’s 21st Annual Spaghetti Dinner has been scheduled; a Seacaucus police officer talked a man off of a bridge, saving his life; and the Jersey City Council approved cameras to assist with parking enforcement. A special shoutout this week (again) to the Bayonne Little League team who is playing in the Little League World Series and won its first game on Friday, August 21st, and is playing its second game today at 1PM, Sunday, August 23rd. .

–First Street Sundays is returning to downtown Hoboken in 2026, transforming part of First Street into a pedestrian-friendly space focused on supporting local businesses (The Hoboken Girl).
–Hoboken bartender Sebastian Pasco is returning home after spending roughly three months in ICE detention, with friends and the local community preparing to celebrate his homecoming (The Hoboken Girl).
–Jersey City Housing Authority tenants are helping shape the redevelopment of Holland Gardens through a public-private partnership designed to preserve public housing while creating a larger mixed-income community (Jersey City Times).
–Hoboken Corporation Counsel Arlene Quiñones Perez is leaving her City Hall role less than seven months after her appointment, with the position set to return in-house (Hudson County View).

–New Jersey’s State Health Planning Board has scheduled an August 27 hearing on the proposed closure of Heights University Hospital in Jersey City (Hudson County View).
–The federal government has joined New Jersey drivers in a lawsuit seeking to end New York City’s congestion pricing fee for vehicles entering Lower Manhattan (NJ.com).
–The Jersey City Council unanimously introduced budget amendments that would result in a 15.15% municipal tax increase, with a final budget vote expected at a special meeting next week (Hudson County View).
