Jersey City Business Administrator Ruby Choi will serve as the acting mayor from August 24th until September 5th while Mayor James Solomon is on vacation.

“As provided under the Faulkner Act, Mayor Solomon has designated Business Administrator Ruby Choi as Acting Mayor for the duration of his trip,” city spokesman Nathaniel Styer said in a statement
“Business Administrator Choi will manage day-to-day operations alongside the mayor’s senior leadership team, which remains fully prepared to keep city government running smoothly.”
He added that Solomon will be traveling to attend his godson’s baptism and visit family, regularly receiving briefings from his senior team for the duration of his trip.
The Jersey City Council unanimously approved (9-0) a resolution with several budget amendments that slightly lowered the municipal tax increase from 15.5 percent to 15.15 percent at Wednesday’s nearly six-hour meeting, as HCV first reported.
They are expected to adopt the full municipal spending plan at a special meeting at City Hall, 280 Grove St., on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The session will also b streamed live via Microsoft Teams.
