Former BYU safety Tanner Wall has signed with the New York Jets after being waived by two other NFL teams.Wall previously spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Miami Dolphins this offseason.He is considered a long shot to make the Jets’ 53-man roster with limited time before final cuts.
Tanner Wall‘s career with the BYU Cougars was as stable and steady as it gets, as he spent all four seasons in Provo and contributed ever since his sophomore season at the safety position. But since going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, the start to Wall’s pro career has been anything but stable.
Wall was initially signed by the Las Vegas Raiders and participated in rookie minicamp and OTAs before being waived at the beginning of training camp. He was then picked up by the Miami Dolphins, but waived shortly after he competed in one preseason game.
Considered a free agent for roughly a week, Wall has now been signed by the New York Jets, according to the team’s social media accounts. The Jets waived multiple players to make room for Wall’s presence on the training camp roster.
Despite coming off a college career in which he totaled 147 tackles, seven interceptions and a forced fumble in four seasons, Wall is considered a long shot to make New York’s roster. After all, he is joining the fray with just over a week before the rosters are cut down from the 90-man training camp roster to 53 players.
Once the cut down date passes, however, practice squad rosters are compiled. By claiming Wall this late in the process, the Jets could be prepping for the former Cougar to be added to their practice squad — which, after being waived twice already early in his NFL career, should be considered a win for Wall if it does play out that way.
