Of the many things we love about New Jersey, one is how massive the network of farmers + chefs is. The opportunity to enjoy locally sourced meals is so important, and Halifax is one of the best options for farm-to-table dining in Hoboken. Located on the waterfront in W Hoboken at 225 River Street, Halifax has been one of our favorites in the Mile Square for a decade, and has a great selection of summer options (plus a build-your-own-spritz promo + and a patio on the Hudson River). Keep reading to learn more about Halifax and its summer dining options.
10 Years in Hoboken
Halifax has been a fixture in Hoboken for 10 years now and is W Hoboken’s only premier dining destination. The Wine-Spectator-acclaimed restaurant has one of the best waterfront views in all of Hudson County, and the menu is delish.
Chef Seadon Shouse, who grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, brings off-the-grid childhood influences to the menu (it’s all in his cookbook), which emphasizes house-made, hand-grown ingredients, seasonally and locally sourced. (If not made in-house).

Halifax’s regional sourcing process is thorough, working directly with farmers, fishermen, producers, and vineyard partners (with some relationships spanning 10+ years!). Some of the restaurant’s sourcing partners include:
Fossil Farms
Happy Valley Meat Company (New Jersey + Pennsylvania-based beef)
Harvest Drop (local produce)
Local 130 Seafood
Barnegat Oyster Co.
Urbana (local hydroponic lettuces + microgreens)
Chef’s own garden, foraging (mushrooms and more), in-house smoked meats, homemade breads, Chef’s Vermouth, house-made Montauk Salt + more

Chef Seadon and the Halifax team use local ingredients to elevate every dish, meaning ingredients spend less time in transit and more time on your plate (wink).
The Dining Experience + New Build-Your-Own Spritzes for August
As amazing as the Hoboken dining scene is, farm-to-fork options are few and far between, so dining at Halifax feels a little extra special. The Hoboken Girl founder Jen and Features Editor Danielle recently stopped by to try out some of Halifax‘s eats, and the verdict is in: it is 100% foodie-approved.
Chef Seadon cooked the food in front of the team and brought some delicious items to the table, including Halifax‘s famous house-made breads and flatbread.
We also tried out some of the delicious new summer sips – Halifax has some of the best spritzes in town, and even lets you build your own.
Here’s our guide to putting the perfect spritz together at Halifax:
Pick your spritz, with Aperol, St-Germain, or Sarti Rosa as options.
Select 2 parts of your apéritif and 3 parts prosecco.
Finish it off with a soda of your choice.
Garnish (and enjoy!)
Halifax’s BYO Spritz option is a full cocktail experience made for 4 to 6 guests, so be sure to bring your friends along.
